BOXSCORE ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia Blue Devil sophomore Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y.) scored both her team's goals Saturday in a 3-2 loss to the Union Dutchwomen in the Flower City Classic. The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 0-2 while the Dutchwomen are 2-0, their best start since 2004.

Kleine first goal in the 16th minute put the Blue Devils ahead 1-0. The play started with a blocked shot in the defensive end. A pass by Alexis Moreland (Newfane, N.Y.) sent Kleine off on a breakaway, and her shot beat Union goalkeeper Allison Brustowich.

After the goal, Union pressed up and forced three corner kicks, the final one resulting in the tying goal in the 18th minute as Katie Monahan tapped a shot past Fredonia goalkeeper Lindsey Forness (Allegany, N.Y.). The Dutchwomen stayed on the attack and took a 2-1 lead in the 30th minute as Breana Derella scored on a rebound following a shot by Whitney Bickford blocked by the Fredonia defense.

Union scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 75th minute when Emily Dahlstrom converted another rebound. The importance of the goal was magnified when Kleine scored again, this time in the 86th minute, assisted by her sister, senior Katie Kleine (Cazenovia, N.Y.). The Blue Devils had one final chance when, following a corner kick with 5 seconds left, a shot by freshman Audrey Yokopovich (Webster, N.Y.) sailed wide.

Forness was credited with six saves.
