BOXSCORE ERIE, PA. -- The Fredonia State baseball team took a 4-3 lead in the seventh inning, but could not hold on, dropping a 5-4 decision at Penn State Behrend on Wednesday.
Down 3-2, pinch hitter
Ciro Frontale singled. He advanced to third following a wild pitch.
Matt Casilio walked to put runners at the corner.
Conner Lorenzo singled home Frontale and advanced Casilio to third. A sacrifice fly by
Kenny Johnston gave the Devils the lead.
It would be short lived, however, as Behrend scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to take a 5-4 lead.
Five different Fredonia State pitchers combined in a nine-inning effort.
Matt Tobias threw the first inning giving up two runs.
Joe Korszun followed up with three scoreless and hitless innings.
Jason Weyman pitched a scoreless fifth.
Ben Senior gave up one run in the sixth, and
Carl Wolf gave up two runs over two innings while taking the loss.
Both teams had seven hits in the game. Johnston tripled for the Devils, and Mike Prentice and
Kyle Koslowski each had a double.
The Devils travel to New Paltz for a three-game set on Friday and Saturday.
