Kleine leads Devils to eighth straight win

BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Katie Kleine (Jr.; Cazenovia, N.Y.) led Fredonia State to its eighth straight win Saturday, a 17-5 SUNYAC home victory over New Paltz in women's lacrosse.

Kleine had six goals, four assists, five draw controls, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers as the Blue Devils improved to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the SUNYAC.

Marissa Cussins (Jr.; Corning, N.Y.) added four goals, two assists, three draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls.

Sam Owen (Fr.; Horseheads, N.Y.) had two goals and Emily Polizzi (Fr.; Rushville, N.Y.) two goals while goalkeeper Christina Mathewson (Fr.; Watertown, N.Y.) earned her first collegiate victory with six saves in the final 44 minutes of duty.

Kelsey Healy scored twice for New Paltz, (4-3 overall, 1-2 SUNYAC).

Fredonia State improved to 11-0 vs. New Paltz in the all-time series between the two teams.

The Blue Devils are back in action Tuesday at Geneseo.
