CLERMONT, Fla. -- Fredonia State dropped a pair of games Tuesday at the Dot Richardson Spring Games.
The Blue Devils (1-3) fell to Amherst, 7-1, in the first game, then lost to William Paterson, 8-2.
Kate Nicholson (Heuvelton, N.Y.) had two singles and Erin Mustare (Oneonta, N.Y.) had the lone RBI against Amherst. The game was pushed back from its original 1 p.m. start to 8 p.m. because of a schedule back-up caused by heavy rain Monday.
The Blue Devils were also originally scheduled to face St. Norbert at 3 p.m. Tuesday, That game was canceled in the revamped schedule. Instead, the William Paterson game was tacked on at the end of the night, with the first pitch coming at 10:10 p.m.
Nicholson had three more singles against William Paterson while
Cherise Gunnell (Falconer, N.Y.) delivered a two-run triple to cut the William Paterson lead to 5-2 in the fourth inning.
