BOXSCORE 2 FT. MYERS, FLA – It took 13 innings and the game finished just before midnight, but the Fredonia State baseball team rallied to down McDaniel College, 6-5, to complete a sweep on the day. They defeated St. Joe's (Long Island), 9-7, in a nine-inning affair earlier in the day.

Conner Lorenzo roped a base hit to score
Matt Casilio and
Ciro Frontale. Lorenzo was then the victim of a dogpile as the weary Blue Devils celebrated the wild victory.
Freshmen pitchers
Cody Herman and
Jason Weyman – both Wayne High School grads -- combined to throw nine innings of solid relief. Herman tossed five strong before yielding two runs in the top of the ninth to allow the Green Terror to tie the game. Herman had five strikeouts .
He gave way to Weyman who worked four pressure-packed innings. Weyman allowed one run – two bad hop singles and a bloop hit – as the McDaniel took the lead in the top of the 13th. That set up the heroics for Lorenzo.
McDaniel kept the pressure on, getting a runner on base in each of the 10th through 13th innings. Reliever Jason Dowd stepped in the fourth inning and tossed 7 1/3 scoreless to keep the game close.
The Devils had 15 hits, led by
Kenny Johnston with three.
In Game 1, senior
Nate Lester started the game going five innings and left with the game tied 4-all.
Ben Senior stepped in for the next three to pick up his first collegiate win.
Kyle Grey picked up his second save of the spring tossing a scoreless ninth.
Matt Casilio had three hits, including a pair of doubles. Lorenzo added a pair of hits. Both also had two hits in Game 2.
The Devils improved to 4-3 on the season. They take on No. 20 Johns Hopkins at 1 p.m. Monday.
