FT. MYERS, FLA – The Fredonia State baseball team dropped a pair of games to Salve Regina on Thursday, 9-1 and 10-3.
It was the season opener for the Blue Devils. Salve Regina improved to 7-1.
The Devils were only able to push across one run in the opener when
Kyle Koslowski (Hopewell Junction/Arlington) singled home
Conner Lorenzo (Rochester/Brighton) in the sixth.
FSU starting pitcher
Joe Korszun absorbed the loss in Game 1. He tossed 2 2/3 innings allowed two runs and struck out five. Free passes hurt him as he issued six walks.
Carl Wolf (Hilton) started Game 2, tossing 5 2/3 innings.
Dan Cecilia (Utica/Whitesboro) doubled home a run in the third inning. Lorenzo drove him in with a single.
Scott Schuster (Livonia) plated
Matt Casilio (Webster/Webster Thomas) with a fielder's choice in the seventh for the third run.
Offensively, Koslowski had three hits for the Devils in the doubleheader. Lorenzo and Cecilia had two hits apiece. Lorenzo and Casilio each added a pair of stolen bases, and Koslowski and Cecilia both doubled.
Anthony Schiro (Sanborn/Niagara Wheatfield) found his way on base three times in Game 1.
Fredonia State is slated to take on St. Lawrence and Skidmore in a pair of games on Friday.
