FREDONIA, N.Y. --
John Estanislau (East Longmeadow, Mass.) celebrated Senior Day 2014 with three individual men's swimming wins Saturday in Fredonia State's 175-123 victory over the Cortland Red Dragons at the Steele Hall Natatorium.
It was Fredonia State's first victory over Cortland in
Arthur Wang's 11 seasons as head coach. The Blue Devils improved to 4-6 in dual meets while the Red Dragons fell to 6-9.
One of 15 Blue Devils recognized prior to their final home meet, Estanislau posted wins in the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard freestyle, and the 100-yard butterfly. He was also part of a winning relay.
In diving, Blue Devil youth was served as freshman
Jeff Matter (East Aurora) was a double-winner --- with zone qualifying scores of 300.70 points in the 1-meter and 293.40 in the 3-meter.
Other individual winners were seniors
Andrew Case (Clarence Center) and
Eric Jordan (Lancaster) in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke, respectively.
The Blue Devils also won the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays.
Second-place finishes included the long-and-short performance of senior
Adrian Van Hall (Owego) in the 1,000-yard freestyle and the 50-yard freestyle. Case was also second in two events -- the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley.
Other runners-up were Jordan in the 100-yard backstroke, sophomore
Liam Jones (Buffalo) in the 200-yard butterfly, freshman
Troy Lubanski (Leicester) in the 200-yard backstroke, sophomore
Rafael Santiago (Middletown) in 1-meter diving, and freshman
Arron Carlson (LeRoy) in 3-meter diving.
The other seniors recognized prior to the meet -- the final one before SUNYAC starting Feb. 19 in Buffalo -- were
