BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The Fredonia women's tennis team fell 5-0 to New Paltz in the First Round of the SUNYAC Tennis Championships on Friday.

The No. 4 seed in the West Division took on the No. 1 seed in the East in the New Paltz Hawks.

The Hawks swept Nos.1 and 2 doubles by scores of 8-2, and took the No. 3 doubles, 8-0. When the first two singles matches were completed, with the Hawks claiming the Nos. 3 and 4 singles, New Paltz earned five of a possible nine points and was declared the winner. By Tournament rules, all other matches were stopped at that point.

The Devils will play in the consolation round at 8 a.m. Saturday vs. Brockport.
