BOXSCORE BUFFALO, N.Y. -- After defeating the SUNYAC-leading Buffalo State Bengals ten days ago in Steele Hall, the Fredonia State women's basketball team could not complete the season sweep, dropping a 71-58 road game in Buffalo on Tuesday.

Freshman Alexis Cheatham (Lockport) continued to show her scoring touch, going for 24 points. She had a career-high of 27 one week ago at Geneseo.

Senior Becky Hebert (Hilton) added 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Fellow senior Jaimie Warren (Lake View/Frontier) had a game-high 13 rebounds. Sophomore Sabrina Macaulay (Newark) added eight points and five boards.

Following a three-pointer by Cheatham, the Devils took the lead late in the first half, 25-23. However, the Bengals would close out the stanza with the final nine points -- seven coming from Bianca Smiley -- to take a 32-25 lead into the locker room.

The Bengals held the lead the entire second half.

Smiley, the reigning SUNYAC Player of the Week, led all scorers with 22 points and matched Warren's game high with 13 rebounds. Mariah Norris added 15 points to the Bengal attack.

Buffalo State had a 51-35 advantage on the glass. Both teams shot well from the line -- the Devils 11 of 13 and the Bengals 10 of 12. Fredonia State made five three-pointers to Buff State's three.

The Devils, who fall to 9-7 overall and 4-6 in the SUNYAC, had defeated Buffalo State 81-58 earlier this season.

The Bengals improve to 14-3 and 9-1 in the conference.

The Blue Devils return home this weekend when they play host to Cortland and Oswego in Steele Hall.
