BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Oswego's Nick Rivait had one goal and two assists Friday as the No. 11 Lakers defeated Fredonia State, 5-1, in SUNYAC men's hockey.

Senior captain Alex Perkins (St.. Albert, Alberta) scored the lone goal for the Blue Devils, who came into the game on a three-game winning streak. They dropped to 5-9-3 overall and 2-4-2 in the SUNYAC.

The Lakers improved to 12-3-2 overall, 5-2-1 in the conference.

Denton King opened the scoring when his shot from the point went off the stick of a Fredonia State defenseman early in the first period.

The Lakers took the 1-0 lead into the second period and added to with two goals in each of the final two periods.

Matt Galati added to his conference-leading goal total with his 16th of the season with a slot from the slot low to the glove side of Blue Devil goaltender Jeff Flagler (Owen Sound, Ont.). Kenny Neil made it 3-0 Oswego when he scored off a rebound later in the second period.

Perkins ruined the shutout bid by Oswego goaltender Matt Zawadzki with 55 seconds left in the second period. The Blue Devils were on the power play when Zach White (Taberg, N.Y.) took a shot from the point which Zawadzki stopped. Perkins crashed the net and put away the rebound for his third goal of the season. Frankie Hart (Timmins, Ont.) was also credited with an assist.

Rivait's goal -- a shot from the point -- put the Lakers on top 4-1 before Chris Carr closed the scoring with a shot from the slot into an wide-open net after taking a teammate's pass from behind the net.

Zawadzki made 25 saves as did Flagler for Fredonia State.

Fredonia State is back in action Saturday night against Cortland. Blue Devil alumni, including members of the 1993-94 championship team, will be in attendance.
