BOXSCORE OSWEGO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team dropped a 73-60 road decision at Oswego on Friday evening.
Fredonia State (6-3 overall, 1-2 SUNYAC) was led by senior
Becky Hebert (Hilton) with 18 points. Sophomore
Sabrina Macaulay (Newark) added 12 rebounds -- 10 on the defensive end -- to go along with eight points and three blocks. Senior
Jaimie Warren had nine points and 10 rebounds, while freshman
Alexis Cheatham (Lockport) continued her solid play with 11 points and five assists.
Fredonia State took its first and only lead seven-and-a-half minutes into the game, 9-7, following a
Brittany LaForce (Weedsport) three pointer.
Oswego then went on a 23-7 run to take a 14-point lead, 30-16, with four-and-half-minutes left. They took a 40-23 lead into the half.
The Devils pulled within eight, 43-35, early in the second half. The Lakers then would go on a scoring spree over the next seven minutes, out-scoring the Devils 19-2 with 9:30 left to play.
Fredonia State had one last run, out-scoring Oswego, 23-8, over the next nine minutes to pull within 10 points, 70-60, in the closing seconds.
Oswego (4-7, 1-3) was paced by Jenn Robbins with 19 points. Lauren Nunziato and Alison Nunziato turned in identical 13-point efforts.
The Devils take on Cortland State on Saturday.
