BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Geneseo's Erin O'Connor scored an unassisted goal in the 55th minute Saturday as the visiting Blue Knights scored a 1-0 SUNYAC women's soccer win over the Fredonia State Blue Devils.

Before a sun-bathed crowd at University Stadium, O'Connor lifted a short shot from the left zone into the upper right of the net behind Fredonia State freshman goalkeeper Heather McGlinchey (Babylon).

McGlinchey was called on two other times to make difficult stops and finished with six saves. At the other end, Geneseo's Julia Sanger made seven saves to record the shutout.

The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 1-5-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the SUNYAC. Geneseo improved to 3-4-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Geneseo held a territorial advantage in the first half, resulting in three corner kicks and five shots. Fredonia State pressed the action toward the later part of the second half, yet missed the mark on a couple of good chances.

Geneseo outshot Fredonia State, 13-10. The top shooters for Fredonia State were freshman Kristie Kleine (Cazenovia) with three, and freshman Jordyn Ruston (Walworth) and senior Kristi Putzig (Williamsville) with two each.

Fredonia State is back at home Tuesday for a non-conference game against Elmira. Kickoff is 6 p.m.
