FREDONIA, N.Y. – Fredonia State midfielder
Katie Kleine recorded four goals and nine assists Saturday to lead the Blue Devils to a 21-12 victory over New Paltz in SUNYAC women's lacrosse.
Kleine's nine assists and 13 points are the most by a Blue Devil since 2005. Current assistant coach
Amy Simon had 10 points last season at New Paltz, while Kleine had a pair of six-assist games last year.
Rachael Reinis had six goals and three assists,
Marissa Cussins added five goals, and
Kaila Fox had three goals as the Blue Devils improved to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the SUNYAC.
Casey Chiesa made seven saves while notching her ninth win of the spring. Kleine and Cussins had seven draw controls apiece. Reinis was credited with three caused turnovers, and Chiesa with three ground balls.
The win was the 100th for head coach
Chris Case (100-69). He surpassed 100 wins in women's soccer last fall (111-80-21).
Talia Tesler had five goals for New Paltz, which fell to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the SUNYAC.
Fredonia State plays host to Wittenberg in a non-conference game at noon Sunday before squaring off against nationally ranked Geneseo in a key SUNYAC game at 4 p.m. Tuesday on the University Stadium turf field.
