BOXSCORE 2 OSWEGO, N.Y. – Fredonia State dropped a pair of one-run losses Saturday in a SUNYAC women's softball doubleheader with the Oswego Lakers.
The Blue Devils (5-13 overall, 2-6 SUNYAC) dropped the opener 11-10 after rallying from a 7-3 deficit. The Lakers (6-9 overall, 3-2 SUNYAC) won the second game, 5-4.
Freshman second baseman
Alyssa Morgan continued her torrid hitting with two hits and four RBI in Game 1 and three hits and two RBI in Game 2. She was 11 of 18 with eight RBI in Fredonia State's four games over the the weekend to raise her batting average to a team-high .490.
Another freshman,
Izzy Simon, connected for her first homer in the third inning of the second game to forge a 2-2 tie.
Oswego retook the lead with two runs in the bottom half of the inning and added an insurance run in the last of the sixth before the Blue Devils scored twice in the top of the seventh on a two-run double by Morgan.
A third freshman, Meg Medina, hit a two-run homer during the opener, also her first as a collegian. She finished the game with two hits and three RBI.
All three senior pitchers made it into the circle during the doubleheader.
Danielle Shelp started Game 1 before giving way to
Raela Wiley-Delp (2-5), who took the loss.

The Blue Devils take a break from SUNYAC play when visit Allegheny for a doubleheader Wednesday.
