BOXSCORE 2 POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Fredonia State bounced back from a 5-3 loss to Potsdam in the first game of a doubleheader for a 13-4 win in the second game in SUNYAC softball.
Madeline Medina (Hamburg) went 4 for 4 with two doubles to lead a 16-hit attack.
Anne Wasik (Fredonia) went 3 for 3 with two doubles and two runs scoerd.
Tina Schwartzmeyer (West Seneca),
Jamie Atkins (East Amherst),
Cherise Gunnell (Falconer), and
Katie Bartkowiak (Fredodnia) had two hits each. Schwartzmeyer had a double and three runs scored, Atkins two RBI and two runs scored, and Bartkowiak three RBI and two runs scored.
Raela Wiley-Delp (Wilson) was the beneficiary of the output. She pitched all five innings -- the game was called as a result of the mercy rule -- to improve to 4-7. She struck out five.
Danielle Shelp (Pittsford) was the losing pitcher in the first game. Offensively,
Alyssa Morgan (Homer) had a two-run single during the Blue Devils' three-run sixth inning. Atkins went 2 for 2 and was 4 for 5 in the doubleheader.
The Blue Devils ended the day 9-22 overall and 4-12 in the SUNYAC. They close out their season Saturday with a SUNYAC doubleheader at Plattsburgh.
