BOXSCORE BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Fredonia State sustained its first loss of the season Tuesday, a 13-8 SUNYAC setback to the Brockport Golden Eagles.

The Blue Devils fell to 14-1 overall and 6-1 in the SUNYAC, while the Golden Eagles improved to 11-5 and 5-3.

Fredonia State can still claim the SUNYAC title with a victory Saturday at No. 4 Cortland.

The Blue Devils, newly ranked at No. 14 earlier in the day, never led Tuesday. They were down 4-1 midway through the first half when junior defender Katie Kleine (Cazenovia), an Empire Region all-star last season, left the game with an injury. She did not return.

Senior Erin Edson (Amherst) cut the deficit to 7-5 with 22:31 left yet the Blue Devils could get no closer.

Edson, senior Kaila Fox (Clifton Springs), and junior Shelby DePew (Macedon) had two goals each while sophomore Katie Glagolev (Webster) had one goal and one assist. Senior goalkeeper Casey Chiesa (Baldwinsville) was credited with 10 saves.

Erica Zartman led Brockport with six goals.

The Blue Devils entered the game as one of four remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division III.
