BOXSCORE 2 ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Fredonia State split a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday with Rochester Institute of Technology.
The Blue Devils (6-17) won the opener, 9-1, as they collected 12 hits. They lost the second game, 8-0, with only one hit.
RIT ended the day with an 8-16 record.
Alyssa Brognano pitched a compete-game eight-hitter with six strikeouts to earn the Game 1 win.
Cherise Gunnell led the 12-hit attack with three hits, including her third home run of the season.
Alyssa Morgan had two hits to extend her hitting streak to 16 games, while
Anne Wasik had two hits and three RBI.
Kate Nicholson had the lone hit for the Blue Devils in the second game.
Raela Wiley-Delp was saddled with the pitching loss.
The Blue Devils return home for a pair of SUNYAC doubleheaders this weekend -- 3 p.m. Friday vs. Geneseo, and noon Saturday vs. Brockport.
