BOXSCORE ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State won its second SUNYAC series of the season with a 11-6 victory Wednedsay over the Oneonta Red Dragons.

The Blue Devils (14-5 overall, 5-2 SUNYAC) won two out three games, including a split of a doubleheader Tuesday, and took two of three from Plattsburgh last month in Florida. The Blue Devils also have a win over Brockport.

The loss Wednesday dropped Oneonta to 9-15 overall, 4-3 in the conference.

The Blue Devils relied on big innings for the bulk of their runs. They scored four runs after two were out in the top of the third. Brian Sheehan had an RBI single, Dillon Lowe and RBI double, and Kenny Johnston a two-run single. Oneonta countered with three runs in the last of the third, only to have the Blue Devils score five times and take a 9-3 lead in the top of the fourth. Dan Fetes had an RBI double and Sheehan and Matt Casilio RBI singles in an inning fueled by a lead-off walk and three Oneonta errors.

After Oneonta cut its deficit to 9-6, the Blue Devils added an insurance run in the seventh on a lead-off triple by John Bennett and an infield groundout by Fetes. They also added a run in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Conner Lorenzo.

Senior right-hander Jake Nowak started for the Blue Devils and worked the first four innings before giving way to Zachary Jordon (4-0). Jordon, a sophomore right-hander, pitched five innings of relief, allowed one run on three hits, no walks, and seven strikeouts.

Sheehan went 4 for 4 to lead Fredonia State's 12-hit attack. He also had two RBI. Bennett had two hits and scored three runs

Fredonia State returns home for three SUNYAC games this weekend vs. New Paltz, a single game Friday starting at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader starting at noon Saturday.
