CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Fredonia State fell to Cortland, 154-141, in the final tuneup Saturday before SUNYAC championships later this month.

Steph Rosa (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) won both backstroke events for the Blue Devils. Her 100-yard winning time was 1:02.18. Later in the meet, she won the 200-yard race in 2:13.21.

Other individual winning swimmers were Sam Rokos (Albany/Duanesburg) with 2:00.37 in the 200-yard freestyle, and Natalia Wilkins (Merrick/Calhoun) with 2:18.35 in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Blue Devils also swept the diving events. Sarah Ficarro (Owego/Owego) was victorious off the 3-meter board with a score 284.65 points. Ashley Keller (Lockport/Lockport) was the 1-meter winner with 276.95 points.

The top three divers for the Devils off the 1-meter board -- Keller, Ficarro and Katelyn Haley (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) -- all put up zone-qualifying scores for the NCAA meet. The combined three scores were also the highest the Devils recorded this season.

Ficarro scored 274.00 and Haley 259.40 to go along with Keller's 276.95.

Haley was second off the 3-meter board with a personal-best 271.90, also qualifying foe the NCAA zone meet. She had also qualified for the 3-meter board earlier this season.

Diving coach John Crawford was proud of his divers' efforts, simply stating, "We are primed for the SUNYAC meet in 11 days."

Fredonia State's seventh event win came in the 200-yard freestyle relay when Cortland, although touching first, swam the event as an exhibition. The Blue Devil quartet consisted of Ellie Brion (Canandaigua/Canandaigua), Rokos, Katie Donnelly (Albion/Charles D'Amico), and Elizabeth Schake (Churchville/Churchville-Chili).

Swimmers and divers who qualified will compete in the SUNYAC meet at the Flickinger Center in Buffalo starting Feb. 20.
