BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Fredonia State men's basketball team dropped a SUNYAC contest, 92-74, to Buffalo State Tuesday evening in Steele Hall.
The Devils were led by
Amir Billups (Buffalo/Starpoint) with 18 points, including four three-pointers.
Robert Lyles (Peekskill) added 15 points and four assists and
Tyrone Clark (Elmira/Elmira Free Academy) had 13 points, fours assists and seven rebounds. As a team, the Devils connected for 10 three pointers.
Buff State's Roderick Epps led all scorers with 30 points and Jake Simmons added 23.
The Devils took the early lead thanks to some hot shooting. Their biggest edge, 23-16, came eight minutes into the game. Billups hit on three of five three pointers and the Devils connected on seven of 12 threes in the half. They also converted 10 or 12 free throws.
Buffalo State (8-8 SUNYAC/13-9) rallied late in the half. Tied 28-all, the Bengals ran off 14 straight points to take the lead. They led 47-35 at the half.
The Devils (2-14 SUNYAC/6-16 overall) are back home Friday, taking on Geneseo at 8 p.m. on Senior Night.
