FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Fredonia State basketball teams are welcoming Alfred State to town on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference contest to close out the semester. The Fredonia State women (5-2) take on Alfred State (3-3) at 2 p.m. The Blue Devil men (2-6) tip off against the Pioneers (1-8) at 4 p.m.

Three 30-point efforts were showcased in Steele Hall last week. For the men, senior Tyrone Clark (Elmira/Elmira Free) scored 35 in a 100-90 loss to Elmira on Tuesday, then poured in 30 points in a narrow loss to New Paltz on Friday.

For the women, senior Becky Hebert (Hilton) went for 30 points against New Paltz last Friday.

A pair of freshmen are showing signs of potential for the women. Kathryn Halloran (Angola/Immaculata) had career highs with 10 points and 7 rebounds off the bench vs. New Paltz. Alexis Cheatham (Lockport) is averaging 8.1 points per game and leads the team with 30 assists.

The Pioneers are in a transition year to Division III. They are playing a schedule mixed with Junior Colleges and Division III institutions.

The women's team is lead by junior Marcedes Caver who is averaging 17.8 points per game and senior Briana Meehan at 11.7. Destiny Brito is grabbing 9.3 rebounds per contest.
