Devils cruise past Spartans

BOXSCORE BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Four players scored in double figures and Sabrina Macaulay (Newark) had a double-double as the Fredonia State women's basketball team defeated D'Youville College, 72-52, on Tuesday to up its record to 4-1 on the season.

Macaulay had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and added three assists and three steals. Senior Becky Hebert (Hilton) notched 20 points and had three assists.

Senior Jaimie Warren (Lakeview/Frontier) turned in 13 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Alexis Cheatham (Lockport) had 14 points and four assists.

The Devils outrebounded D'Youville 43-31 and had a 21-8 advantage in assists. They built a 37-27 lead at halftime, and led by as many as 22 in the second half.

D'Youville falls to 1-4. They were led by Jean-Ann Korona with 11 points.

The women are off until Dec. 6th and 7th when they open SUNYAC play at home vs. New Paltz and Oneonta.
