BOXSCORE 1 | BOXSCORE 2 SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Fredonia State closed out its regular season with two more women's volleyball wins Saturday.

The Blue Devils extended their winning streak to 15 straight matches with victories over host Skidmore, 3-0, and regionally ranked Union, 3-2. As a result, Fredonia State improved to 25-8 heading into the SUNYAC Tournament next Friday.

The 25 wins is the fourth most by a Geoff Braun-coached Blue Devil team. The 2008 team won 29 games, while the 2007 and 2011 teams each won 26. Braun has been the Fredonia State head coach for 15 seasons.

The Blue Devils won the Skidmore match by set scores of 25-22, 27-25, and 25-14. Senior outside hitter Katlin Orcutt (West Seneca) recorded a .588 attack percentage with 11 kills, one error, in 17 attempts, while freshman outside hitter Sara Madison (Rochester) led the Blue Devils with 14 kills.

Freshman setter Kelly Edinger (Rochester) was credited with 42 assists, sophomore libero Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster) had four service aces and a team-high 16 digs, and senior outside hitter/middle blocker Hannah Manning (Apalachin) four block assists.

The latest NCAA New York Region ranks had Union at No. 8 and Fredonia State at No. 9, and that closeness was evident in the five-set marathon. The Blue Devils won the first set 25-18, dropped the next two 23-25 and 20-25, then won the fourth set 25-18 to set up a decisive fifth set up to 15. The set went overtime before the Blue Devils prevailed 21-19.

Eight Blue Devils made their marks statistically. Orcutt and sophomore opposite Paulina Rein (Baldwsinville) led the attack with 16 kills each, sophomore middle blocker Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga) added 10 kills, and Manning collected nine kills.

Edinger was the leading playmaker with 60 assists, Hokaj had four service aces, sophomore outside hitter/libero Brittney Kelly (North Tonawanda) led with 22 digs, while DiChristopher had a team-high four total blocks. Others with double-digit digs were Hokaj with 21, Rein with 20, senior libero Lauren O'Hara (Canandaigua) with 15, Edinger with 13, and Orcutt with 10.
