John DeFeo (Glen Head, N.Y.) made it a one-goal deficit with his first goal of the season. The Red Dragons' Mike Henrici scored into an empty net with :27 left, his second goal of the game, both in the third period.

Christopher Eiserman (Newburyport, Mass.) made 18 saves.
Cortland goaltender Lyle Rocker made 56 saves and the Red Dragons were 3 of 4 on the penalty kill.
Cortland scored on its first shot of the game, an even-strength goal by Brant Sherwood :42 seconds into the opening period. The Blue Devils countered with Castriota's goal, his first of the season, on a power play at 14:31. The Red Dragons regained a 2-1 lead on a goal by A.J. Moyer with 1:22 left in the first period.
The Blue Devils had a 32-18 advantage in shots through a scoreless second period. They outshot the Red Dragons 26-4 in the third period, yet managed only DeFeo's goal – assisted by freshman forward
