BOXSCORE ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Becky Hebert (Hilton) spurred a late surge as the Fredonia State women's basketball team downed Nazareth, 78-70, on Tuesday.

Hebert had 25 points, including 19 in the second half. The Devils were aided by several Nazareth players getting in to foul trouble, and were able to take advantage by converting 22 of 28 free throws in the deciding frame.

Fredonia State also shot a nifty 12 of 17 (71 percent) from the field in the second half.

Fredonia State upped its record to 2-1, while Nazareth fell to 1-2.

Nazareth led 36-32 at the break and held that lead until a Sabrina Macaulay (Newark) free throw tied the game 62-all with 4:34 left to play. The Devils outscored the Flyers 16-8 to close out the game.

Foul trouble benefitted the Devils as Nazareth starters Melissa Reeves and Hannah Runyon both fouled out, and Lindsey Kelly absorbed her fourth foul mid-way through the second half.

Midway through the first half, the Devils held a nine-point lead, 21-12. Nazareth went on a 24-11 run to close out the half. Jaimie Warren (Lakeview/Frontier) led the Devils with 11 first-half points.

Warren finished the game with 22 points and eight rebounds. She and Hebert converted 19 of 20 free throws for the game, with Hebert connecting on all 11 attempts. The Devils made 35 trips to the charity stripe, converting 28 tries as a team.

Macauley added 15 points, seven boards and four steals. Hebert was also the leading rebounder with a game-high 11.
