Devils drop Kean to extend winning streak

BOXSCORE SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Fredonia State extended its winning streak to 13 straight with a 3-1 women's volleyball victory Friday over Kean in a match played at Skidmore.

The Blue Devils, ranked No. 9 in the NCAA New York Region, improved to 23-8 overall by scores of 25-17, 22-25, 25-20 and 26-24. The loss dropped Kean to 21-10.

Senior outside hitter Kaitlin Orcutt (West Seneca) led the Blue Devil attack with 15 kills, sophomore opposite Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville) added13, and sophomore middle blocker Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga) and freshman outside hitter Sara Madison (Rochester) had nine each -- DiChristopher with just two errors, Madison with one.

Sophomore setter Kelly Edinger (Rochester) received credit for 46 assists, plus a team-high14 digs and two service aces. Sophomore libero Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster) added 13 digs and Rein had 10 to give her a double-double. DiChristopher led with three block assists.

The Blue Devils close out the regular season with two matches Saturday -- at 11 a.m. vs. host Skidmore, and at 1 p.m. vs. Union. After this weekend, they meet Cortland next Friday at New Paltz in the first round of the SUNYAC Tournament.
