Hannah Manning was named tournament MVP

Women's volleyball claims the Blue Devil Invitational

FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Fredonia State women's volleyball team came out victorious in the Blue Devil Invitational after they defeated La Roche, 3-1, in their first match of the day, then won a five set match over RIT. The Blue Devils finished the weekend undefeated.

Senior Hannah Manning (Apalachin) was named Tournament MVP.

Against La Roche, the Blue Devils won 25-19, 25-14, 24-26, 25-17.

Manning had 12 kills, five service aces, and four blocks. Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville) and Sara Madison (Rochester) each had 10 kills. Rein added 12 digs. Kelly Edinger (Rochester) had 38 assists.

In their second game, the Blue Devils won 25-13, 23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 15-9.

Manning once again led the team in kills with 13. She also had four service aces. Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga) finished with ten kills and four blocks. Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster) had 17 digs. Edinger had 40 assists and added 10 digs defensively.

The Blue Devils (14-8) will look to carry momentum into SUNYAC pool play that is set to be played next Friday and Saturday at SUNY Potsdam.
