BOXSCORE GENEVA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team wrapped up its 2013 campaign falling 3-1 at Hobart College on Tuesday.

Hobart improves to 10-7-1 overall, while the Blue Devils fall to 5-12-1.

Hobart's Jacob Fox started the scoring for the Statesmen at the 31:00 mark. Ian McGarty pushed a pass through a group of Fredonia State defenders to find Fox, who slid a short shot from right out in front into the goal to give Hobart a 1-0 lead. It was Fox's third goal this season.

Just 1:19 before the break, freshman Sam Greco (Lockport) put the Blue Devils on the board. Sam Guilder blasted a shot on goal but Statesmen goalie Mike Lucas made a tremendous diving save. However, Greco was there to send home the rebound to tie things up at 1-1. It was his third goal of the season.

In the 60th minute, Joe Busuttil took back the lead for Hobart. Tyler Terens sent a corner into the box and Busuttil was able to tip the ball into the back of the net from the left post.

In the 74th minute, Charlie Kelly padded the Statesmen lead with his 11th tally this season. He carried the ball into the box first faking around a Fredonia State defender for a one-on-one with the keeper. Kelly then faked the keeper twice before sending his shot into the back of the net.

The Blue Devils came very close to tying up the game a second time with 19:12 to go. Paul Reinis fired a shot on goal from just inside the box, but it banged off the top of the crossbar.

The Statesmen had also come inches away from scoring again in the 63rd minute. Sophomore Marco Ronning drilled a shot that banged off the crossbar and fell straight down, but did not cross the goal line. It was then immediately clear out of the zone by a Blue Devils defender.

The Statesmen held a 22-14 advantage in shots and a 6-4 edge in corners. Lucas played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with five saves. A.J. Grecco (Buffalo/St. Joe's) played the entire match in goal for Fredonia State and finished with six saves.
