FREDONIA, N.Y. -- A 3-1 win Saturday over Oneonta gave Fredonia State its second SUNYAC Pool Play sweep of the season and locked down the No. 3 seed in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament.

They had to rally to do so. After dropping the opening set 14-25, the Blue Devils eked out a 27-25 in the second set, then rolled to 25-14 and 25-17 wins in the next two sets. It was their 11th straight match win and upped their records to 7-2 in the SUNYAC and 21-8 overall.

Freshman outside hitter Sara Madison (Rochester) had 15 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore opposite Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville) was the second top hitter with eight kills. She also had four total blocks.

Sophomore setter Kelly Edinger (Rochester) was credited with 37 assists and shared the team lead in digs with sophomore outside hitter/libero Brittney Kelly (North Tonawanda), with 15 each. Sophomore libero Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster) also had 10 digs, and sophomore middle blocker Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga) had five total blocks.

By virtue of their wins Friday over Plattsburgh and host Geneseo, the Blue Devils reached the 20-win mark for the 11th time in Geoff Braun's 15 seasons as head coach. The win Saturday locked up the third seed -- behind New Paltz and Buffalo State -- when the SUNYAC Tournament is held in New Paltz starting Nov. 8.

Four regular-season matches remain, including Tuesday vs. Penn State Behrend on Senior Night. The 7 p.m. match will be held in Dods Hall.
