Potsdam tops Devils

BOXSCORE POTSDAM, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's soccer team made a late comeback bid, but fell short in a 3-2 loss at Potsdam.

Down 3-1 late in the game, Jay Dry (Lockport) connected to make it a one-goal game, but the Devils were unable to score in the final seven-and-a-half minutes.

The Devils outshot Potsdam 16-15 and held a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Luke Tylutki (Pittsford/Pittsford-Mendon) assisted on Dry's fifth goal of the season. Dry connected from the near corner.

The first half was played to a 1-all tie. Potsdam's Alex Minsker scored 4:18 into the game.

Just over a minute later, Mike Biggane (Amherst/Sweet Home) tied the game for the Blue Devils on his second score of the season. Jakob Persons (Albany/Columbia) assisted as Biggane converted on a header.

Potsdam scored twice midway through the second half to take a 3-1 lead, before Dry's goal capped the scoring.

A.J. Grecco (Buffalo/St. Joe's) made six saves in goal. Potsdam's Alex Pavone made seven saves.

The Devils fall to 1-4-1 in the SUNYAC and 4-9-1 overall. Potsdam improves to 2-3-1 and 8-6-1.

Fredonia State takes on Plattsburgh on Saturday.
