Devils cap Cortland, beat Bears

BOXSCORE 1 | BOXSCORE 2 POTSDAM, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's volleyball team completed a perfect weekend of SUNYAC Pool Play defeating Cortland and host Potsdam, 3-0, on Saturday. The wins push the team's win streak to seven games.

The Devils did not lose a set going 3-0 on the weekend. They defeated Oswego on Friday.The Devils improve to 17-8 over and 4-2 in the SUNYAC.

In the win over Cortland (11-13/2-3), the Devils won by set scores of 25-20, 25-10 and 25-19.

Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville) and Sara Madison (Rochester/Penfield) had nine kills apiece. Hannah Manning (Apalachin/Owego) added eight. Kelly Edinger (Rochester/Greece Athena) had 27 assists.

Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster/St. mary's) had 13 digs and Rein and Brittney Kelly (North Tonawanda/Niagar Wheatfield) had 10 apiece.

Against Potsdam (12-12/4-2), Rrein had 12 kills and Jessica DiChristopher (Cheektowaga/West Seneca East) had seven. Edinger tacked on 28 more assists.

Defensively, Hokaj had 13 digs and Rein had nine. Madison added five blocks.

The Devils won by set scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 25-22.

The third and final round of Pool Play takes place in Geneseo on Oct. 25th and 26th.

The Devils will take on Medaille at 7 p.m. in a non-conference matchup Tuesday on Dods Hall.
