BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State defeated Potsdam 74-57 on Friday evening in SUNYAC women's basketball.
Three juniors,
Jaimie Warren (Lake View/Frontier),
Becky Hebert (Hilton), and
Nikole Lindquist, all scored in double figures to lead the Blue Devils, who improved to 4-6 in the conference and 9-7 overall.
Warren finished with a season-high 27 points, shooting 9 of 11 from the field and 9 of 11 from the free throw line. Hebert added 18 points. Lindquist chipped in 13 points and added 11 rebounds for her first double-double as a Blue Devil.
Potsdam was led by Katy Briedis with 16 points.
The first half featured seven lead changes and four ties. The biggest lead was seven points by Fredonia State, 17-10, following a
Grace Moore (Fredonia) free throw.
The Devils carried a 32-26 lead into the locker room. Warren led all scorers with 12 points at the break. Briedis had eight for Potsdam.
Fredonia State increased its lead to eight points early in the second half. They led 40-32 before the Bears ran off six straight points to pull within two, 40-38. That's the closest the Bears would come.
The Devils' first double-digit lead came with 3:46 left to play, 61-51, on a long jumper by Lindquist. On the ensuing possesion, Lindquist made a steal in the open court and made an easy breakaway layup to push it to a 12-point lead.
The Devils finished the game on a 14-6 run.
Hebert is closing in on 1,000 points for Fredonia State. She finished the night with 954 career points. The Devils' next three games are at home. They are back in action Saturday, taking on Plattsburgh at 2 p.m.
