FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State will look for a sweep of its season series over the Morrisville State Mustangs when the SUNYAC foes meet Saturday at Morrisville.
The Blue Devils were 2-1 winners on an overtime goal by freshman
Chad Bennett (Burlington, Ont.) when the teams met Nov. 3 at the Steele Hall Ice Arena. Another freshman,
Taylor Bourne (Calgary, Alberta), had the other Fredonia State goal while junior goaltender
Mark Friesen (Calgary, Alberta) made 19 saves.
In addition to going for the sweep, the Blue Devils will look to enhance their crowded playoff position. They enter Saturday's game -- scheduled for a 7 p.m. faceoff in the Morrisville State IcePlex -- tied for the sixth and final SUNYAC playoff spot with seven conference games remaining.
Fredonia State and Brockport have 3-6-1 conference records heading into the weekend. In addition, Buffalo State (4-5-1), Potsdam (3-6-0), and Cortland (2-6-1) are still in the mix.
If it wants to join the mix, Morrisville State will have to start tonight when they entertain Buffalo State. The Mustangs are 2-8-0 in the SUNYAC, including a 5-4 overtime win over Potsdam last weekend.
