Geneseo tops Devils

GENESEO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team fell 70-51 at Geneseo on Tuesday evening.

The Devils (8-7 overall and 3-6 SUNYAC) were paced by SUNYAC-leading scorer Becky Hebert (Hilton) with 13 points. Jaimie Warren (Lake View/Frontier) added 11 points. Both Hebert and Warren led the team with seven rebounds. Nikole Lindquist (Cherry Creek/Pine Valley) added nine points.

Geneseo (12-4, 8-2) was led by Dana Cohen with 20 points.

Geneseo led 30-21 at the half. The Devils mounted an 11-4 rally to start the second half and pulled within two points, 34-32, following a three-pointer by Hebert.

The Devils shot a sizzling 16 of 17 from the free-throw line and a nifty 50 percent (5 of 10) from long range. The Devils prevailed in the ballhandling battle, causing 23 Geneseo turnovers with only 15 turnovers to their credit. The Devils had 14 steals to Geneseo's eight.

The women return to action this weekend in Steele Hall when they play host to Potsdam and Plattsburgh at 6 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
