CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State men's basketball team fell to SUNY Cortland, 84-61, on Saturday.
The Devils jumped out to an early 13-7 lead, with senior
Dalton Kashmer (Pine Valley) accounting for the team's first 13 points. The teams traded leads several times before Cortland eventually took the lead for good following a Lamard Herron three pointer with 5:17 to go in the first half. They led 29-26 at that point.
Cortland took a 42-28 lead into the half.
For the game, Cortland held a slight advantage in rebounds, 38-35, and had 15 turnovers to the Devils' 17. The biggest statistical edge came at the free-throw line. Cortland converted 26 of 39 attempts, while the Devils were 11 of 16.
Kashmer led the Devils with 25 points.
Robert Lyles added 11.
John Kovach had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Cortland was paced by Kevin McMahon with 18 points.
The Devils return to Steele Hall Tuesday for a womens'/men's doubleheader.
