BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State's bid to win its own tournament fell short Saturday night with a 3-0 loss to Allegheny in women's soccer.
The Blue Devils, 3-1 following the loss, fell behind 2-0 in the first half on goals by Emily Byers and Emma Loniewski.
Greta Hilbrands scored on a penalty kick for the Gators in the second half.
They were the first three goals allowed this season by senior goalkeeper
Meaghan Meszaros (Selden), who finished with nine saves.
The Blue Devils took nine shots yet were unable to break through on Allegheny goalkeeper Kylie Mason. She finished with four saves.
Allegheny was declared Blue Devil Clarion Classic champions and improved to 4-1.
Earlier in the day, the University of Rochester scored in the final second of the first overtime to defeat Geneseo.
