Hale nets double-OT winner for unbeaten Devils

BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Catie Hale (Lockport) scored in the 110th minute Saturday as Fredonia State defeated University of Rochester, 1-0, on the first day of the Blue Devil Clarion Classic.

Hale, a junior midfielder, volleyed a shot from 15 yards out into the upper right corner with 39 seconds left in the second overtime. It was her first goal of the season and lifted the Blue Devils to 3-0 this season.

All three of their wins have been by 1-0 scores. Senior goalkeeper Meaghan Meszaros (Selden) has been the author of all three shutouts. She made seven saves Friday and notched her 17th career shutout in the process.

Rochester's Bridget Lang made 12 saves.

The Classic resumes Saturday. Fredonia State will face Allegheny at 7 p.m. while Rochester takes on Geneseo at 3 p.m. 

Allegheny defeated Geneseo, 2-0, earlier in the day.
