Devils down Medaille in four games

BOXSCORE BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State women's volleyball improved to 9-8 overall with a 3-1 win Tuesday over the Medaille Mavericks.

Lindsey Olson (Portville) and Hannah Manning (Apalachin) were the top hitters for the Blue Devils, winners by set scores of 25-16, 25-16, 21-25, and 25-23, Olson had 14 kills and Manning 10. .

In addition, Kelly Edinger (Rochester) had 35 assists, and Meredith Smietana (Cheektowaga) three solo blocks and four block assists.

The Blue Devil defense was credited with 80 digs, led by Lauren Hokaj (Lancaster) with 26, Paulina Rein (Baldwinsville) with 19, Edinger with 11, and Olson with 10.

Fredonia State takes a break from competition for the next nine days as it prepares for its home tournament, The Blue Devil Invitational, Oct. 4-5 at Dods Hall. Matches vs. D'Youville, Rochester Institute of Technology,  Westminster (Pa.), and one opponent-to-be-determined are scheduled.
