BROCKPORT, N.Y. -- Brockport's Nick Bunce homered over the left-field fence in the last of the ninth inning to give the Golden Eagles a 2-1 win over Fredonia State in SUNYAC action Tuesday.
Sean Larson (Angola) was tagged with the loss despite the complete-game seven-hitter. He walked one and struck out five.
The Blue Devils managed just one hit all afternoon, a double by
Dan Greco (Lockport) in the second inning, and the hit did not figure in the scoring.
The teams were scoreless until Brockport scored in the last of the sixth inning. The Blue Devils came right back with a run in the top of the seventh.
Jake Nowak (Depew) was hit by a pitch to start the inning. He moved to second on a wild pitch, to third on a bunt by
Dan Fetes (Webster), and scored on a bunt by
Dillon Lowe (Pittsford).
Brockport used four pitchers. Mark Ciccotti pitched the eighth and ninth innings and picked up the win.
The Blue Devils fell to 9-11 with the loss, 3-4 in the conference. They are back in action Thursday at 3 p.m. vs. Penn State Behrend.
Brockport imprved to 13-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
