FREDONIA, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State baseball team defeated Oswego 13-2 on Friday. The win kept the Devils (6-10 SUNYAC, 12-20 overall) in the hunt for a post-season berth.
Dan Greco led the 19-hit attack with a five-for-five performance.
Dillon Lowe added three hits and had five RBI -- two coming on a two-run homerun.
Dan Fetes,
Brian Sheehan,
Chris Messina and
Ian Gallagher also had two hits apiece.
Sean Larson claimed the win on the mound, going 6 1/3 innings yielding a pair of runs and six strikeouts. He improves to 3-4 on the season. Zach Jordon and
Josh Gascon slammed the door with 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Alex Jurczinski led the Lakers (6-10, 17-20) with two of Oswego's seven hits. Jon Stevens took the loss, going three innings and giving up four runs.
With two conference games remaining vs. Oswego on Saturday, the Devils need to sweep the Lakers and hope for Oneonta (7-9) to lose one of two at Brockport. The other favorable scenario is the Devils splitting and Oneonta dropping both ends of the doubleheader at Brockport. Brockport downed Oneonta 2-1 on Friday. The Devils defeated Oneonta two out of three games earlier in the season and thus own the first tiebreaker.
