FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State pitchers issued 10 walks, three of them leading to runs, in a 6-4 non-conference baseball loss Thursday to Pitt-Bradford.
The visiting Panthers (14-17) erased a 3-2 deficit with four runs in the fifth inning, three of them by runners who walked to get on base. There were also two hits in the inning, RBI singles by Ethan Flowers and Louie Jones.
Ben Senior (Angola) was tagged with the loss. He allowed four runs on two hits and three walks in 1 1/3 innings.
Zach Murray (Williamsville) pitched the first three innings,
Josh Gascon (Livonia) followed Senior, and
Kyle Grey (Frewsburg) finished for the Blue Devils with three scoreless innings.
Kyle Koslowski (Hopewell Junction) led the Fredonia State offense with a 3 for 3 game, including a double. He also scored twice and drove in a run.
Dan Greco (Lockport) also had three hits, and
Adam Bronson (Conneaut Lake, Pa.) had two RBI.
Showers had two hits for the Panthers, who were outhit 11-8. Derek Meyers was the winning pitcher in relief, while Tyler Collins pitched a scoreless ninth inning to get the save.
The loss dropped the Blue Devils to 9-19 heading into a three-game weekend set at New Paltz -- a single game Friday followed by a doubleheader Saturday.
