Devils tame Bengals

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's lacrosse team remained atop the SUNYAC with a 15-11 road win at Buffalo State on Tuesday. The Devils are now 4-0 in conference play and 10-2 overall.

Fredonia State was led by Morgan McNamara with five goals. Katie Glagolev and Amy Simon added three scores apiece. Casey Chiesa had 12 saves in goal.

The Devils took a 2-0 lead in the first half as Simon and Glagolev scored the game's first goals. The Bengals would eventually tie the game at 3-all. Simon and McNamara would score back-to-back goals with just over 10 minutes left in the half to put the Devils back on top, 5-3.

Buffalo State's Becca Martinez and Jenn Shadduck each scored to tie the game at 5-all with 2:26 left in the first. McNamara's second goal of the half with 1:41 remaining gave the Devils a 6-5 edge they would take into the intermission.

Buff State's Karen Shadduck scored 36 seconds into the second half for the game's third tie, knotting things a 6-all.

McNamara scored two goals over the next minute-and-a-half to put the Devils back up 8-6. Glagolev added another score at the 23:42 mark to give the Devils their biggest lead of the game to that point, 9-6.

The Devils would hold the lead for the rest of game. Kaila Fox, Cortney Ciaschi, Karli Brinthaupt and Megan Mietelski each scored a goal apiece for the Devils.

Karen Shadduck led the Bengals (8-5 overall, 1-3 SUNYAC) with three goals.

The Devils travel to Potsdam on Saturday.
