BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Fredonia State unleashed a 13-hit attack on a cold, blustery afternoon en route a 9-2 non-conference win over Medaille.
The Blue Devils (11-11-1) broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth.
The biggest hit of the third inning was a two-run triple by
Erika Hines (Falconer). Hines also had an RBI single during the fifth inning.
Lauren Larson (Lakewood) was 4 for 4, including a triple, and also had three RBI.
Tina Schwartzmeyer (West Seneca) and
Katie Bartkowiak (Fredonia) were credited with two hits each, while
Gabrielle Ciccarello (Sodus) had two sacrifice flies.
Winning pitcher
Danielle Shelp (Pittsford) allowed two runs over the first four innings. She improved to 3-2.
Ashley LaPorta (Buffalo) pitched three scoreless innings of relief.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled because of the worsening weather conditions. The Blue Devils return to action Friday at Oneonta in a SUNYAC doubleheader scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
