FREDONIA, N.Y. -- Fredonia State's Steve Sturm scattered six hits Sunday as the Blue Devils outlasted Hilbert, 9-2, in a non-conference game at Ludwig Field.

The Fredonia State offense was as steady as the rain. The Blue Devils (9-10) scored in five of the six innings they batted. Seven players had at least one it and three had two each -- Jake Nowak (Depew), Dillon Lowe (Pittsford), and Justin Burns (Cortland).

Burns had a double. He, Nowak, Dan Fetes (Webster), and Brian Sheehan (West Seneca) had two RBI each.

Jim Pernick had two hits off Sturm, who allowed single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

The second game of the doubleheader was postponed due to wet grounds.

The Blue Devils take a 3-3 SUNYAC record into their next game, a single game Tuesday at Brockport.
