BOXSCORE FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Fredonia State softball team took Game 1 in convincing fashion before succumbing to the elements after four innings of a 0-0 tie in Game 2. That game will be continued at a yet-to-be-determined time.

Potsdam struck first on an RBI single by Brittany Pawlowski in the top of the first, but that's all they would muster.
Lauren Larson put the Devils on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single up the middle to plate Tina Swartzmeyer, who had reached on a hit by pitch.
In the second,
Gabrielle Ciccarello doubled and was driven home by an
Anne Wasik single.
The Devils took control in the third with four runs, three coming on Ciccarello's first career homer to put the Devils up 6-1.
The Devils threw down an exclamation point with nine runs in the fourth as 14 batters made their way to the plate.

Game 2 was a different story. Potsdam starting pitcher Ashley Thayer would be perfect through 3 2/3 innings before

She yielded a two-out single in the fourth, but followed that up by striking out McCuin swinging.
A burst of lightning and thunder and eventual suspension of the game ocurred after four complete. Details of when and where the game will be continued will be determined.
The Devils improved to 7-5-1 and take on Plattsburgh Saturday at noon.
