DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Amy Simon scored four goals to lead the Fredonia State Blue Devils to a 12-8 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Tuesday at Spring Fling 2012.

The win moves the Devils to 3-1 on the season.

Simon's four goals gives her 14 on the season.

"She is doing pretty well," Fredonia State coach Chris Case said. "Every game they are face guarding her or double-teaming her. She faces the challenge of trying to get shots off. For her to get four goals tonight being face guarded and doubled, I think she did well. That's something she will have to face this season. The goal is be patient and work with what the defense is giving her and use it to our advantage."

Morgan McNamara added three goals for the winners. The Blue Devils had a 7-1 halftime scoring advantage, and a 23-4 advantage in shots.

"I thought we played excellent," Case noted. "They were a very athletic team. It was the best our defense has played all year. We controlled the tempo which led to our 7-1 lead at halftime."

Casey Chiesa was the winning goalie with seven saves. Rachael Reinis had a stellar day on the draw with seven draw controls.

Katie Kleine and Chiesa had four groundballs each. Megan Mietelski held CMS's top player to three goals, three below her average per game this season.

"Tonight we played with an intensity level that was great," Case said. "We played under control. We have only six fouls in the first half, so we cleaned up our checking and that helped with the flow of our game."

Fredonia State returns to action tonight when it plays Skidmore at 7:30 p.m.
