FREDONIA, N.Y. – Quarterfinal games in the eight-team SUNYAC basketball tournaments are Tuesday, and both Fredonia State teams are on the road.
The women have an opportunity pull the biggest upset in the eight-team bracket when they face the top-seeded Buffalo State Bengals. Tipoff is 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils take a 10-14 record into the tournament, including two earlier losses to the Bengals. Buffalo State won at home 80-63 and again last Tuesday 67-51 at the Steele Hall Fieldhouse.
In the men's tournament, Fredonia State visit Geneseo for an 8 p.m. tipoff.
It's a matchup that has already favored the Blue Devils twice this season. The Blue Devils defeated the Blue Knights 68-67 when the teams met Jan. 13 at Geneseo, then took the rematch 62-50 on Feb. 11 at Steele Hall.
Fredonia State is 13-11, yet is the No. 6 seed due to its 8-10 SUNYSC. Geneseo earned the No. 3 seed with an 11-7 record in the conference.
Coverage of both games Tuesday and any subsequent tournament games will be available at www.fredoniabluedevils.com.
The highest-seeded team from among Tuesday's quarterfinal winners will host the semifinals Friday and the championship game Saturday. Each tournament champion will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Tournament.
