CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Julius Bryant (Buffalo) had 23 points and 10 rebounds but was unable to lead Fredonia State all the way back Friday in a 72-68 loss to Cortland in SUNYAC men's basketball loss.

Damien Goodwin II added 16 points for the Blue Devils, who fell to 13-10 overall and 8-9 in the conference heading into their final regular-season games Saturday at No. 16 ranked Oswego.

Brian Manning led Cortland with 23 points, Jesse Winter added 12, and Harrison Hefele had 11.

The Red Dragons used a 13-0 run to erase a 12-point deficit late in the first half and led at halftime 34-33.

Fredonia State trailed throughout the second half, once by as many as 12 points. They mounted a rally and pulled within two points, 68-66, with 28 seconds left on a layup by Bryant.

After Cortland regained a four-point lead, Goodwin was fouled while attempting a three-point shot with 11 seconds left. He made the first two shots and missed the third attempt.

Manning added two insurance free throws in the final seconds.
