Second half propels Brockport past Devils

FREDONIA, N.Y. -- After playing a tightly contested first half, the Fredonia State men's basketball team fell behind early in the second and could not recover as Brockport downed the Devils, 79-60, on Friday.

Brockport held a 34-33 lead at the break. The half featured six ties and eight lead changes.

With Brockport up 46-43 at the 15:35 mark of the second half, the Golden Eagles stretched their lead to 57-43 on an 11-0 run to make it 57-43. From there, the Devils would get no closer than 12 points.

Fredonia State (12-8 overall, 7-7 SUNYAC) was led by Damien Goodwin II with 13 points. Leonard Smith and Jonathan Herrera had 11 each. Kevin Mitchell added 9 points and 4 assists.

Brockport (10-11, 7-7) had four players in double digits, led by Kyheem Green's 19. Brockport held a 36-27 advantage in rebounds.

The Devils take on Geneseo Saturday at 4 p.m. They defeated the Knights at Geneseo, 68-67, earlier this season.
