BOXSCORE PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- The Fredonia State women's basketball team was defeated by Plattsburgh, 79-50, on Friday.
Becky Hebert led the Devils with 19 points, including a perfect 10 for 10 from the free-throw line.
The Cardinals and Blue Devils exchanged leads five times in the first half before the Cardinals rallied early in the second half to take the lead for good.
Going into the break, the Cardinals carried a 29-25 edge on the scoreboard and a 24-13 advantage in rebounds. Hebert had 9 points for the Devils. The Cardinals were led by Brittany Marshall with 14 points.
Early into the second half with Plattsburgh leading 31-29, the Cardinals went on a 15-point run to up their advantage to 46-29. The Blue Devils punched back, putting together a 9-0 rally to cut the lead to eight points, 46-38, after a
Brittany LaForce (Weedsport) three pointer with 9:45 to go.
Over the final nine-and-a-half minutes, the Cardinals outscored Fredonia State 33-12 to close out the win.
Jaimie Warren (Lakeview) added 8 points and 4 rebounds for the Devils. Marshall led the Cardinals with 21 points and 6 assists.
Plattsburgh improves to 4-2 overall, 2-1 in SUNYAC.
Fredonia State falls to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the SUNYAC. The Blue Devils continue their road trip when they face Potsdam Saturday at 2 p.m.
